Amandla Charter School

Amandla Charter School is based
on four core beliefs

All students deserve access to a high-quality rigorous education that prepares them to excel in college and in their professional lives and no high school graduate should be prevented from accessing a college education for a lack of skill or an inadequate academic foundation.

All students can and will achieve academic excellence when they are provided with a highly structured school culture and excellent classroom teaching.

Mastery of the core academic subjects is essential to academic success and it is the school's responsibility to ensure that all students reach fundamental benchmarks at each grade level.

All students have a right to develop a strong ethical foundation as well as the habits and values that support educational and life success. Quality schools guide their students' character development and engage all school stakeholders in that vital process.

Quality Education For All

  • Amandla is tuition-free. Amandla is publicly funded and will never charge tuition.
  • Amandla Charter School is open to all students regardless of test scores, past academic performance, and special needs. We at Amandla believe all students can learn, and we will never give admission preference to a student based on their grades or scores.
  • Amandla will serve grades 5-12.
  • Amandla is college preparatory. Our Mission is to prepare Chicago students to excel in college and beyond through a powerful college prep curriculum beginning in grade five.

At Amandla We Believe

  • A safe, orderly, and supportive school community is essential to ensuring that teachers can teach and students can learn.
  • The first and most important job of a school is to make sure that every student is at or above grade level in reading, writing, and mathematics. At Amandla, all students in grades 5-8 will have double periods of math and language arts as well as tutoring opportunities so that no student falls behind.
